Developmental Trainer

 

Under the direct supervision of the QMRP/Administrator and House Manager, the Advocate Homes trainer is responsible of the direct care and instruction of the residents in the areas of academics, language development and eating.  He/she is also responsible for the documentation of these efforts.

 

Illustrated Examples

1.          Establishes and maintains a harmonious, sincere and positive living and working environment.

2.          Adheres to all applicable Advocate Homes policies and procedure.

3.          Assures responsibility for the welfare of the residents assigned to him/her in a professional, organized and caring manner.

4.          Adheres to the daily assignment schedule.

5.          Attends and actively participates in staffing as necessary.

6.          Instruct residents in the areas of academics, community living, economic self-sufficiency and Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLS) in accordance with established goals and methods.

7.          Actively participates in resident’s behavior programming, as necessary.

8.          Supervises resident’s meetings.

9.          Reports all incidents, accidents, unsafe conditions or hazardous equipment immediately.

10.     Keeps alert to any change in the resident’s condition and reports the change to the Administrator immediately.

11.     Participates in regularly scheduled orientation and in-service training programs in relation to the social, emotions and recreational needs of the residents.

12.     Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure that resident rights are protected.

13.     Participates actively in Advocate Homes Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) on the job-training program.

14.     Participates in All Community Living activities as scheduled.

15.     Runs Activities for Residents.

16.     Transports clients as necessary.

17.     Performs other duties as assigned.

18.     Orientation will consist of Training in Basic Health & Safety, Med Administration, CPR, Fire Safety, universal precautions and sanitation.

19.     Ongoing training will be conducted in all Modules as required by the State of WI Quality Assurance.

 

 Job Relationship

Responsible to the Administrator and House Manager

 

Qualifications:  High School or GED diploma and certificates of completion from Can training program.  In addition, One (1) year experience working with the developmentally disabled is strongly preferred.
